Sony’s gone and made both the NEX-3 and NEX-5 official, with the NEX-5 carrying the large boast of being the world’s smallest and lightest camera with interchangeable lenses.

Both have 14.2MPs, Exmor APS HD SMOS sensors, an ISO range of 200 – 12800 and are compatible with all E-mount lenses. Both have HDMI outputs and USB 2.0 for connecting to PCs, and they thankfully take SD, SDHC, SDXC cards as well as Memory Stick Pro Duo and Pro-HG Duo. They’ll be available in June, with rumored pricing tipping the NEX-3 at $1200.

And so the DSLR wars continue. The Canon EOS Rebel T2i ($1500) is the latest salvo from Canon, offering a number of improvements over the T1i it replaces. Highlights include 3.7fps shooting, ISO up to 6400, an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor, 1080p video at both 30 and 24 fps with full manual exposure control, an iFCL 63-zone dual-layer metering system, a 3-inch LCD, support for SDXC memory cards, and a 9-point AF system. If you’re already a Canon shooter, or simply want to save some money, the T2i also comes in a body-only package for $1400, giving you $400 to put towards a better lens than the middling 18-55 kit glass — in fact, it’ll pretty much cover Canon’s base 50mm f/1.8 prime. read more

Powered an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, these compact concepts also offer interchangeable lenses, DSLR-level controls, and full AVCHD video capability for high-quality HD video capture. Expect a fairly hefty price tag if/when these become available. read more
