Sony’s gone and made both the NEX-3 and NEX-5 official, with the NEX-5 carrying the large boast of being the world’s smallest and lightest camera with interchangeable lenses.

Both have 14.2MPs, Exmor APS HD SMOS sensors, an ISO range of 200 – 12800 and are compatible with all E-mount lenses. Both have HDMI outputs and USB 2.0 for connecting to PCs, and they thankfully take SD, SDHC, SDXC cards as well as Memory Stick Pro Duo and Pro-HG Duo. They’ll be available in June, with rumored pricing tipping the NEX-3 at $1200.

Cartier Caliber Collection 2010

posted by admin in March 2010 | tags: Cartier, Watch

The new Cartier Caliber Collection features the first self-winding mechanical movement crafted entirely by Cartier: the calibre 1904 MC. Consider this a move forward that testifies to the priority Cartier gives to developing its own movements, based on research. Striking a nice balance between power and finesse, the Calibre de Cartier watch is exceptionally comfortable to wear. The bezel that embellishes the case plays on contrasts: polished on the exterior, it becomes increasingly dynamic as it approaches the case.

A 28 degree free-fall towards the dial culminates in a fluted ring marked with 120 notches. The dial offers a virile reinterpretation of both the Cartier watchmaking codes and Roman numerals. A transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the calibre 1904 MC. The Calibre de Cartier arrives in April, starting at $7500

Sony PlayStation Move

Japanese gaming giant Sony makes a strong play for Nintendo Wii market share with their latest announcement. The PlayStation Move motion controller (for PS3) functions much like Nintendo’s Wii Remote and Nunchuck, working in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye camera and a sub-controller – though Sony claims their version is much more accurate. And you can play in HD. We’ll have to wait and see if this can compete with a traditional controller/Wii gaming. The PlayStation Move releases sometime this Summer read more

Canon EOS Rebel T2i

And so the DSLR wars continue. The Canon EOS Rebel T2i ($1500) is the latest salvo from Canon, offering a number of improvements over the T1i it replaces. Highlights include 3.7fps shooting, ISO up to 6400, an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor, 1080p video at both 30 and 24 fps with full manual exposure control, an iFCL 63-zone dual-layer metering system, a 3-inch LCD, support for SDXC memory cards, and a 9-point AF system. If you’re already a Canon shooter, or simply want to save some money, the T2i also comes in a body-only package for $1400, giving you $400 to put towards a better lens than the middling 18-55 kit glass — in fact, it’ll pretty much cover Canon’s base 50mm f/1.8 prime. read more

2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible Unveiled Ahead of Geneva debut

Bentley is set to introduce the motoring press to what it claims is the World’s Fastest Four-Seat Convertible next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Naturally, that would also make it the fastest convertible Bentley has ever turned out. Like the hardtop Continental Supersports that the British luxury brand introduced a little while back, the drop-top features a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine that puts out 621 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque whether running on gasoline, ethanol or a combination of the two.

Sony Cyber Shot TX5

Sleek, stylish, and tough aren’t words that normally describe the same product, but they’re certainly applicable to the Sony Cyber-shot TX5 ($450). The TX5 offers many of the same features found in the company’s flagship TX7 compact — including an Exmor R CMOS sensor, Sweep Panorama mode, HD video recording (720p, instead of the TX7’s 1080i), a touchscreen LCD, 10fps shooting, and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization — but packs them into a rugged body that’s dust proof, waterproof to 10 feet, and shockproof to 5 feet. read more

Sony Alpha DSLR

It might still be in the concept stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dream about having a Sony Compact Alpha DSLR ($TBA) in our bag or pocket. Powered an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, these compact concepts also offer interchangeable lenses, DSLR-level controls, and full AVCHD video capability for high-quality HD video capture. Expect a fairly hefty price tag if/when these become available. read more
